Project overview

Under the creative direction of Jeannie Voirin-Gerde, I lead the redesign of WildStar's website, personally handling the sites UX, UI, visual direction, and brand alignment, with support from 1 other designer in the production of content design.

Ideation session

I collaborated with Carbine Studio's leadership and PMs on WildStar’s complete site redesign, working closely with the studio to gain clarity on the business goals and ideate with the PM's on how we could reach those goals through information architecture, user experiences, and brand consistency.

Iterative design

After coming to understand the business objectives, we received leadership approval to proceed with mapping and wireframing. Below are the final designs for the new website information architecture and annotated wireframes for the site's new user experience. Due to the lack of resources for collecting user feedback and usability testing, we followed industry best practices regarding user experiences.

Information architecture

UI and visual design

Since the website was going to launch before the game, I wanted to design a site that had a strong visual connection to the game, to help build anticipation with our users. Given all the fantastic art that Carbine Studios produced for WildStar, I decided to obtained approval to deconstruct the game's UI design to create custom UI components for the game's website to reach my objective.

Project results

Unfortunately, NCSOFT West closed it's Seattle design studio before the redesign of WildStar launched, so I am unable to provide data on the success of the redesign of the site. Nonetheless, at the time, praise was provided for the visuals and new experience by both NCSOFT and Carbine Studios.
